As of the writing of this blog the VXI is working well, Case is Complete (for the breadbin), and final PCB is in production.
So what is it? It is an all in one video solution which will easily allow connection of a 64, Vic-20, and very shortly a 128 to a modern TV. No more need to guess which cable to get. No need for additional HDMI converters. No need for an external power source. This unit will plug into the 8 pin or 5 pin video out on the computer while connecting to the cassette port to supply the power. Then connect using HDMI, Composite, or S-Video. I have tested this unit using 2 outputs at the same time, Composite and HDMI. As of right now I haven't tested using the S-Video and HDMI at the same time but plan to shortly.
The VXI upscales the Composite out to 720p or 1080p. I suggest using the LUM-FX in combination with this interface for best quality picture. I will be offering the VXI and LUM-FX in a discounted bundle.
When will it be for sale? Preorders will begin this week with finished units shipping in about 2 weeks. Whey the additional wait? Because I know there will need to be some design tweaks between now and then.
Keep watching here and on the shop for more info and for the preorders to open up.
I will have a Vic-20 version ready in a few days with the 64c and 128 versions to follow.
I am excited to see the development of the VXI for the C-128. Have you come up with a list of specifications for it yet? What can I do to support this development? Knowing of the complexity of the video outputs of the 128 I am hoping that both 40 and 80 column output makes it to the final product. It would be nice to know your thoughts and what the progress is. Thanks for all you are doing to support the Commodore community.
When you get this working for the C128 let me know. I'll be first in line to get one. Happy holidays to you and yours.
l this work with the c128 rbg? 80 column mode?
